Why Self-Care isn't optional: It's Crucial 

Need Sleep? Emotions running the show? Feeling overwhelmed or disconnected? Being able to live with greater ease and steadiness every day is the goal that most of us are looking to experience in our lives. The ability to use traditional Western psychology with Eastern medicine. Yoga therapy and Ayurveda create optimal outcomes for this goal. With more than 22 years working in the field of trauma therapy as a psychotherapist, I found yoga therapy and Ayurveda medicine especially helpful in the treatment of anxiety, depression and related issues. Combining talk therapy with yoga and Ayurveda increase healing outcomes.

Typical sessions include changing habitual actions that hold us in emotional distress. Activities include: developing morning and bed time routines, breathing techniques, diet, physical movement, meditation and deep relaxation practices along with talk therapy. Our work together can be both individual or in small group therapy sessions.

It has been thru both personal experience and years of professional work that I have developed this integrated approach. Blending Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for thinking patterns, Ayurveda for daily support and yoga therapy for integration of body mind and consciousness has helped me personally. This is a universal journey that we all share.

Here's a great breathing exercise to relieve anxiety and reduce stress: Practice this cooling breath Sitali Pranayam. Curl your tongue in a U shape (taco tongue) and bring the tip to just even with your pursed lips. Inhale deeply and slowly through the curled tongue and exhale through the nose. A proven yogic practice to soothe emotions. 

Yoga is not about twisting yourself into a pretzel. It’s about giving your body the attention and love it needs through breathing and gentle movements. It’s about being healthy and happy at any age. Do things that make you happy.
